Johnsen, relays lead Knights to 2nd place at Crim Swim

YUMA — Michael Johnsen won two events and the Lake Havasu boys swam to three relay wins on the way to a second place finish at the Crim Swim invite at Valley Aquatic Center on Saturday.

Johnsen won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1 minute, 8.49 seconds and the 500 freestyle in 5:04.52 to help the Knights to 219 team points, second to only to Division I Yuma Cibola, who won the meet with 301.

Evan McMillan won the 200 individual medley in 2:10.67 as the Knights only other individual winner.

Johnsen, McMillan and the Havasu boys won three relays, topping the 200 medley in 1:47.99 and two freestyle relays, the sprint 200 in 1:39 and the 400 in 3:37. 41.

The Havasu girls finished in third behind Cibola and Mohave, helping the Knights to a second place combined team finish.

Mohave’s Madelynn MacDonald won the girls 200 free and 100 fly and teammate Mikayla Barton won the 100 free. The Thunderbirds girls won the 400 free relay.
