Brakettes 1-7, Eliminators 4-0 Brakettes’ 18-game win streak snapped
STRATFORD — The Stratford Brakettes had an 18-game winning streak snapped with a 4-1 loss to the Connecticut Eliminators in the first game of a doubleheader Friday night at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field. The Brakettes won the second game 7-0 to split the doubleheader.
Morgan Perry picked up the win on the mound for the Eliminators in the first game, holding Stratford to just six hits and one run. Brandice Balschmiter’s record fell to 8-2 in the loss, as she allowed three of the Eliminators’ four runs in the top of the first inning.
Kaysee Talcik, of Shelton, pitched the Brakettes to victory in the second game, improving her record to 9-0. Stratford had 12 hits in the nightcap and broke the game open with a three-run second inning.
The Brakettes (29-3) will play the Polar Crush (Mass.) tonight in a doubleheader beginning at 6:30.
