SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Alabama and Clemson meet tonight for the third time with the national championship on the line. It’s the first time the College Football Playoff championship game features two unbeaten teams. The championship game will be played in Santa Clara, California.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Record-setting Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr. says he is leaving school to enter the NFL draft. The third-year sophomore announced on Twitter that he will depart the program after one year as a starter in which he broke most school and Big Ten single-season passing records. He also finished third in Heisman Trophy voting.
UNDATED (AP) — Duke, Michigan, Tennessee and Virginia remain in the top four spots of The Associated Press men’s college basketball poll. The rest of the top 10 became a jumble after three ranked teams lost last week. The Blue Devils received 37 of 64 first-place votes from a media panel.
NEW YORK (AP) — The Jets have interviewed former Colts and Lions coach Jim Caldwell for their head coaching vacancy. The meeting was announced by the team today. It marks the fifth known interview New York has conducted since firing coach Todd Bowles last Sunday.
CLEVELAND (AP) — Cavaliers All-Star forward Kevin Love says he’s still weeks away from getting on the court as he recovers from surgery on his left foot. Love played in just four games before undergoing surgery on Nov. 2 to relieve pressure around his big toe. He was recently cleared by doctors to begin some “select basketball activities,” but Love says he’s not ready to run on the foot, which he injured in Cleveland’s exhibition opener.
