Temple 69, Fordham 53

PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Marc Jackson scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Temple closed out its home season with a 69-53 victory over Fordham in the Atlantic 10 Monday night.

It was also Temple’s final game at McGonigle Hall, where the Owls recorded a record of 177-29 over 28 years. Next season, Temple will play in the Apollo, a new 10,200-seat facility.

Pepe Sanchez scored 14 points and Rasheed Brokenborough added 11 for Temple (17-8, 10-5 Atlantic 10), while Maurice Curtis led Fordham with 14.

It was the seventh straight loss for the Rams, whose record dropped to 6-18 overall and 1-13 in the conference.

Temple jumped out to a 21-9 lead and, led by Jackson’s 13 points, held a 37-21 advantage at halftime.

The Rams closed to 37-27 on a 3-point play by Ray Carroll, but Temple went on an 11-2 run and built its biggest lead, 48-29, with 13 minutes left.
