Youth to be honored in Oct. 9 city council meeting
NEEDLES — Four Needles youngsters who attended the Devil Pups Youth Program for America at Camp Pendleton early this summer will be honored by their civic government Tuesday night. Ryly Payson, Erin Breaux, Isidro Ramirez and Dawsen Yeager receive a presentation by Needles City Council meeting in regular session at 6 p.m. in chambers at 1111 Bailey Ave.
The public will be asked to give their input during the meeting on changing city code for retail marijuana business operating hours to 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. to match state regulations. Marijuana businesses surface again later in the meeting when council decides whether or not to allow them to use temporary modular units while construction of permanent facilities proceed.
A second reading of an ordinance to amend development impact fees to finance public improvements and facilities comes before council, as does a decision to delete the no parking zones along Ice Plant Road where tractor-trailers habitually park and are ticketed for doing so.
City Manager Rick Daniels will ask council to approve an agreement for county work experience and community service training to supplement the existing city workforce. Another item asks council to approve a plan to use Needles Regional Senior Center as an emergency medical facility in the event of a hospital evacuation.
Altogether there are some 13 items on the agenda.
