Peru Beats Guatemala 2-1
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ First-half goals by Roberto Silva and Carlos Alberto Orejuela sparked the Peruvian national team to a 2-1 victory over Guatemala on Wednesday night.
Guatemala is preparing for the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup, while Peru is getting ready for the start of qualifying for the 2006 World Cup.
Peru took just two shots in the first half and scored on both. Silva scored in the 15th minute from 15 yards out on an assist by Henri Quinteros.
In the 35th minute Orejuela scored from 10 yards out on a pass from Jose Alberto Soto.
Guatemala scored in the 82nd minute on a penalty kick by Gonzalo Romero following a foul in the penalty area by Peru’s Soto.
