UNDATED (AP) — In NBA action tonight, All-Star D’Angelo Russell returns to face the team that gave up on him after just two seasons when the Brooklyn Nets visit LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Denver Nuggets look for a sixth straight victory when they visit the New York Knicks. The L.A. Clippers, who are back in the playoff race thanks to an 8-1 start in March, carry a three-game winning streak into their matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers. And the Houston Rockets look to get back on track after a tough overtime loss to Memphis where James Harden scored 57 points when they host the San Antonio.

UNDATED (AP) — On NHL ice tonight, the San Jose Sharks visit the Anaheim Ducks following a 4-2 loss to the Kings. The Washington Capitals host the Minnesota Wild. The Capitals are coming off an overtime 5-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Lighting from Wednesday night’s matchup.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Eight-time champion Serena Williams plays her first match at the new Miami Open site today when she faces Rebecca Peterson. Naomi Osaka and Novak Djokovic are also in action.

SAITAMA, JAPAN (AP) — Olympic champion Alina Zagitova won the free skate to capture her first title at the figure skating world championships. The 16-year-old Russian built on her lead from the short program with a strong free skate that included a triple-lutz, triple-toeloop combination in the first half of her program. Elizabet Tursynbaeva became the first woman to land a quadruple jump at the world championships.
