Fairland allows no shots in 3-0 triumph
CHESAPEAKE, Ohio — Fairland’s girls high school soccer game Tuesday night was moved from Jim Mayo Stadium to Chesapeake’s Phil Davis Field so the teams could play on turf, rather than saturated natural grass.
Dragons’ goalkeeper Carson Bailey could have stayed home.
Fairland gave up no shots to the Panthers in a 3-0 victory over their archrivals in Ohio Valley Conference action.
Lexi Hall provided all the scoring Fairland needed with a goal off a Maddie Miller assist at the 27-minute mark. Nina Miller made it 2-0 with a goal on a direct kick at 35:19. Emily Browning set the score with a goal off a Nina Miller pass at 44:53.
HUNTINGTON HIGH 2, WOODROW WILSON 2: The Highlanders and Flying Eagles played to a tie in Beckley, West Virginia.
Woodrow Wilson took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute, but Sophie Aya-Ay tied it with a goal at 26:00. Emma Conway’s goal at the 64-minute mark gave Huntington High a 2-1 lead, but the Flying Eagles tied it in the 71st minute.
BOYD COUNTY 6, WEST CARTER 1: Graci Borders scored a hat trick, scoring three goals in the seocnd half to lift the Lions over the Comets.
Izzy Caldwell scored twice and Olivia Parsons once for Boyd County. Ragan Adkins scored for the Comets.
HURRICANE 1 , GEORGE WASHINGTON 1: The Patriots’ Katy Darnell saved a last-second shot by the Redskins’ Ann Marie Ramey to preserve the tie.
George Washington scored first, as freshman Linsey Hackney made a goal from 25 yards, just under the cross bar to make it 1-0 at the 67-minute mark. Sydney Wheeler tied it with 6:39 to play off an assist from Brooke Lucas.
RUSSELL 4, ASHLAND 2: The Red Devils shared the ball well in defeating the Kittens.
Kynidee Allen, Abby Satterwhite, Kylie Busick and Abby Keeton scored for Russell.
