Expos Catcher Appears in Court
CORNWALL, Ontario (AP) _ Montreal Expos catcher Lenny Webster appeared in court on Monday to face gun charges.
Webster is charged with trying to import a prohibited weapon, a 9-mm Luger, into Canada on April 7. He declined to comment on Monday’s court proceedings. Webster, 35, makes his next appearance in court Oct. 16.
The charge was filed June 28 by Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service. The seizure of the weapon was made during a search of a vehicle at Cornwall Customs on April 7.
