Utah 75, Panionios Athens 63

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) _ Phil Dixson scored five 3-point baskets to lead Utah to a 75-63 victory over B.C. Panionios of Athens, Greece in an exhibition game Friday night.

Utah took control of a close game late in the second half with a 22-8 run, capped with a Byron Wilson 3-pointer that made it 72-56 lead with 4:23 to play. Wilson had 12 points and Antoine Davison had 11 for the Utes.

Panionios Athens jumped to an 8-5 lead as former NBA player Pat Cummings, who played briefly for the Utah Jazz last season, scored five of his game-high 30 points.

Utah countered with a 12-2 run to pull ahead 17-10 after a 3-pointer by guard Jimmy Soto with 10:46 remaining in the half. Two free throws by Larry Cain increases Utah’s lead to 27-18 with 6:44 left.

Panionios Athens closed the margin to 37-36 late in the half after a basket by Predrag Benacek, who single-handedly outscored Utah 9-4 in a first-half run. He finished with 20 on the night.

At halftime, Utah led 39-37.
