Former special education teacher faces indecency with child charge

A former special education co-teacher arrested for indecency with a child at a North Side school posted bond and was released Tuesday.

Gabriel Charles Ginithan, 49, was indicted on the charge March 12 in connection with an incident involving a former student at Lopez Middle School, North East Independent School District officials confirmed.

He posted a $75,000 bond, according to court records.

The student was in 9th grade when she filed a complaint in February 2018, according to court records.

Ginithan was with the district from August 2011 until he was terminated on June 8, officials said.

He worked as a special education teacher at Harlandale Independent School District from 2007 to 2011, teaching life skills during summer 2007, 2009 and 2010, according to his resume on file at NEISD.

Officials said Ginithan also taught special education at Southside Independent School District from 2007 to 2008, and worked as a case manager for Northside Independent School District from 2003 to 2006.
