Fifth Member Of Family Dies In Fire
CANTON, Ohio (AP) _ Investigators say heavy foliage around a duplex delayed response to a fire that killed five family members.
The fire early Monday morning killed Jack Blose, 35; his wife, Deborah, 31; their 12-year-old son, Jack Jr.; and 5-year-old daughter, Rachel, officials said. Four-year-old daughter Lacey Blose died Mondy night at Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron, a hospital spokeswoman said.
All five died of smoke inhalation, the Stark County Coroner’s office said today.
″Heavy foliage that screened the house kept (the fire) from being detected until it was well under way,″ said Dick Anthony, clerk for the Canton fire chief.
When firefighters arrived, the entire front porch was engulfed, and flames were shooting up to the second and third floors, Anthony said.
The cause had not been determined, Anthony said.
