Oregon Logger Killed in Landslide
DUNES CITY, Ore. (AP) _ A slide of mud, fallen trees and heavy brush killed one logger and another was missing in the rubble Friday.
The landslide near Silt Coos Lake, about 50 miles west of Eugene, was not discovered until the loggers failed to come back from their work site Thursday night.
``The slide started up the road and came down,″ Lane County spokesman Mike Moskovitz said. ``The slide was 150 feet long, 50 feet by 50 feet wide, and searchers estimate it is 12 to 20 feet deep.″
The body of Robert George Winona, 48, of Florence, was found early Friday, and rescuers were searching for Charles Max Lee, 60, of Florence.
