8-year prison sentence for 10-time Reno felon
RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Reno man with nine prior felonies has been sentenced to eight years in prison after he was convicted of illegally possessing a gun for the second time.
Federal prosecutors say 55-year-old Clifton Jackson was arrested in December 2018 while on parole after prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
U.S. District Court Judge Howard McKibben sentenced him Wednesday.
Prosecutors say a Washoe County sheriff’s deputy responding to reports of shots fired saw Jackson in a truck with a juvenile that sped away from the scene.
The deputy chased them and saw a gun thrown from the vehicle.
Investigators searched the area and found a loaded 7.65mm semi-automatic pistol that was stolen from Plumas County, California, in May 2018, along with a box of .32-caliber ammunition.
