FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) _ Greg Buckner scored 18 points and No. 5 Clemson shot 67 percent from the field to rout Iona 79-49 Friday at the Top of the World Classic.

The Tigers (2-0) built a 15-point halftime lead, and increased the margin to 33 at one point in the second half.

Harold Jamison scored 16 points and Tom Wideman added 14 for Clemson, which beat North Carolina-Wilmington in its season opener.

John McDonald led Iona (0-1) with 11 points.

Iona struggled from 3-point range, missing 13 of 15 shots.

The Gaels trailed by only seven points after the first quarter but the stronger, faster Tigers outscored Iona 26-12 over the next 10 minutes.

Clemson made 12 of 15 shots from the field in the first half, and sank 25 of 37 on the night.

Clemson plays Southwest Missouri on Saturday in the second round. Iona meets Duquesne in the losers bracket.
