Bridgeport man charged with Stamford home invasion

January 15, 2019

STAMFORD — A Bridgeport man has been accused of breaking into his ex’s Springdale apartment and assaulting her new boyfriend.

Marco Gjuraj, 36, has been charged with home invasion, burglary and other charges, and has been held on $500,000 court appearance bond.

Gjuraj went to the apartment near Mead Street last Thursday to drop off child support money and insisted to use the bathroom, police Sgt. Robert Shawinsky said.

The woman refused to let him in and Gjuraj wrestled with her and tried to take her keys, Shawinsky said. Unable to grab the keys, Gjuraj kicked open the door open, forcing his way into the apartment, Shawinsky said.

Gjuraj then forced open the door to the victim’s bedroom, where he assaulted her and her male friend, Shawinsky said.

Family members helped force Gjuraj out of the apartment, police said. He left the scene before police arrived.

With the assistance of the Stratford Police Department, Stamford police officers arrested Gjuraj at his place of employment.

Gjuraj has been charged with home invasion, first-degree burglary, reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a child and criminal mischief.

Gjuraj faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the home invasion charge alone.
