Guest speaker at Redeeming Life Ministries

Pastor James Carr, of Redeeming Life Ministries, 1284 S. Fourth Ave. in Kankakee, announced that Minister Ricky Day will be the guest speaker at the morning worship service at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday.

The Christmas program will take place immediately after the morning service at about 1 p.m. in the lower level. Members and friends of the church will give Christmas gifts to the children of the Sunday school, according to their suggestions.

Community Christmas Dinner

New Vision Missionary Baptist Church, at 194 N. Entrance Ave. in Kankakee, will hold its Community Christmas Dinner from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Christmas services at Central Christian Church

Central Christian Church, at 310 Main St. N.W., Bourbonnais, will hold its Lessons and Carols at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service will take place at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve (Tuesday).

The Christmas Eve offering will benefit Blessings in a Backpack, which provides school children with weekend nutrition. Christmas Day carols and prayers will be at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

A free Christmas Day dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Make reservations by Friday by calling 815-614-4267.

Iroquois County Christmas Cantata

“Christmas! We Remember, Rejoice, Worship” is the 43rd annual event by the Iroquois County Christmas Cantata. Co-directors are Denise Kosik, Erik Parmenter and Jessica Fehland, with Fehland also directing the children’s choir — Joyful Noyz.

There still are three performances remaining to this year’s schedule: 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. today; and 7 p.m. Friday. All performances take place at First Christian Church, 546 N. Sixth, Watseka.

Though there is no cost for tickets, reservations must be made to ensure there is enough seating available. To arrange a reserved seat for any of the three remaining performances, call 815-242-7870. Leave a message that includes your name, how many will be in your group, the date and time of the performance you want to attend, and a call-back number.

If you cannot receive text messages, state that in your message and a return call will be made to you to verify your reservations.

Onarga UMC Christmas services

Onarga United Methodist Church, at 109 E. Seminary Ave. in Onarga, announced its services for the weekend: 8 a.m. Sunday worship; 5 p.m. Monday, Christmas Eve candlelight service.

Also, the 8 a.m. Dec 30 worship is for reverse offering and world service.

Coal City UMC to host soup supper

Coal City United Methodist Church, at 6805 E. McArdle Road in Coal City, is hosting its January “Hallelujah” Soup Supper from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 5.

Cheesy potato soup and chili will be served. Each meal includes a choice of soup, a sandwich, crackers, a beverage, ice cream and dessert. Carryouts are available. The cost is $8 for adults and children age 13 and older; $4 for children ages 6-12; $2 for children ages 3-5; and children 2 and younger eat free.

All proceeds will go to the church’s building fund. Tickets will be sold at the door.
