Coyotes Send Janney to Tampa Bay

PHOENIX (AP) _ The Phoenix Coyotes, who promised a shakeup after another first-round playoff elimination, traded center Craig Janney to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.

In return, the Coyotes received left wing Louie Debrusk and a fifth-round pick in this summer’s draft.

Janney, an 11-year pro acquired from San Jose in March 1996, had 10 goals and 43 assists for Phoenix last season.

In 158 games over 2 1/2 seasons with the Coyotes, he scored 32 goals and had 94 assists.

Debrusk, signed by Tampa Bay as a free agent last August after six seasons with Edmonton, had one goal, two assists and 166 penalty minutes last season.

In seven NHL seasons, he has 963 penalty minutes.
