Southwest Airlines Jet Diverted
BURBANK, Calif. (AP) _ A Southwest Airlines flight bound for San Jose landed in Burbank to remove a man who threatened the crew and other passengers, police said.
Joe Mendez, 34, ``threatened bodily harm to our flight crew,″ said Ginger Hardage, a spokeswoman for the Dallas-based airline. She would not elaborate and did not know what prompted the outburst Tuesday.
``He said he wanted to be taken to Hollywood,″ said Burbank airport spokesman Sean McCarthy.
None of the 74 passengers or five crew members was injured, and the plane continued on to San Jose after a 30-minute delay.
Mendez was booked for investigation of alleged violations of federal aircraft piracy and flight crew interference codes. Bail was not immediately set.
