Eagles boys, Pirates girls win middle school titles

MILTON - Huntington won the girls title and Barboursville the boys championship of the Cabell County Middle School basketball tournament Thursday night at Milton Middle School.

In the girls game, the Eagles trailed 17-9 after one quarter, but used a 17-1 run to tie at halftime. The Pirates regained the lead, 31-24 by the end of the third period, but Huntington stormed back to win.

Jada Turner led the Eagles with 14 points. Lacee Smith scored 12 and Rain Jackson 10.

Jayola Allie and Blaire Vaughn paced the Pirates with seven points each.

In the boys game, Barboursville erased a 15-8 halftime deficit, outscoring Huntington 31-17 in the second half for the victory.

D. Schmidt led the Pirates with 12 points. J. Eastone scored 11.

Dakota Dingess paced the Eagles with 16 points.
