Bicyclist killed in Bismarck remembered as family man
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A man killed in a crash while riding his bike in Bismarck is being remembered as a family man who enjoyed playing his accordion for nursing home residents.
Seventy-six-year-old Don Hruby was riding on a sidewalk when a teenage driver crashed into him Tuesday afternoon. Hruby’s daughter, Cori Radke, says her father worked at the Falkirk Mine and retired in 2007. She says he and her mother started The Don Hruby Band years ago and played at wedding dances and other events. Radke says her father continued to play his accordion at nursing homes after he retired, often a few times a week.
The Bismarck Tribune reports Hruby’s family asks that any donations in his memory be made to a local nursing home.
