Lawyer charged in Brockton pedestrian death
BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts lawyer police say was behind the wheel of an SUV that travelled in reverse about 200 feet before striking and killing a Navy veteran is facing charges.
Prosecutors tell The Enterprise (http://bit.ly/2bupqSh ) that 66-year-old Valerie Semensi, of Cohasset, is charged with one count of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation in connection with the June 1 death of John Buckley.
Authorities said Semensi was backing into a parking spot at Brockton District Court when her vehicle jolted up a grass embankment, across a courthouse access road, and up a second embankment, before striking and dragging the 66-year-old Buckley.
Semensi stayed at the scene.
A call to her office Friday was not immediately returned.
Buckley was a Bridgewater resident who served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
