Durham Bulls host home opener Thursday night
The Durham Bulls will take the field for their home opener Thursday night against the Columbus Clippers.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. To help kick off the season, there will be 14 different discounted food items and postgame fireworks.
Fans will have a few new menu items to check out when gates open on Thursday. Mac and cheese hot dogs, a Weiner Waffle and a patty melt are among the new food options.
The Bulls continue their homestand with a slate of opening weekend activities. Friday night there will be food trucks on hand and postgame fireworks.
On Saturday night, the team will be rebranding to the Durham Tobacconists, an ode to the first professional baseball team in the city. The change is part of a season-long celebration of Durham’s 150th birthday.
On Sunday, the Durham Bulls players and coaches will be signing autographs before the game. After the game, children will have a chance to run the bases.
Matt Sutor, marketing director for the Durham Bulls, said on Thursday that a moment of silence will be held before Thursday’s game in light of the explosion that killed coffee shop owner Kong Lee.
