WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump boasted this past week that he surpasses his predecessors in consoling families of the fallen.

That claim is hard to sustain.

Associated Press interviews with bereaved families found that many never heard from him after losing their loved ones in military service. The suddenly fraught subject overshadowed other matters in Washington for days.

AP Fact Checks found misstatements from the president on a variety of fronts.

For example, Trump denounced what he called unprecedented roadblocks from Democrats as he struggles to win confirmation of his judicial nominees.

But at this point in his presidency, he's had more judges confirmed than his immediate two predecessors did.
