COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Leslie VanWinkle scored 22 points and Diane Seng added 16 as Tennessee Tech topped Murray State 72-61 Tuesday night in the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference women's basketball tournament.

Tech (17-10) advances to Friday's semifinal round in Nashville where it will meet the winner of Tuesday night's Middle Tennessee-Austin Peay game. Murray State ended its season with a 10-17 record.

Murray State tied the game at 52-52 on a basket by Shonta Hunt with 9:01 to pay before Tennessee Tech took charge.

Tech took the lead for good, 55-52, on a 3-point play by Collin Carmichael and later used a 9-0 rn to lead 66-54 with 2:26 remaining.

Amber Clark added 12 points to Tech's total, while Stephanie Minor topped Murray State with 14 points.
