Bicyclist struck, killed by car in Worcester
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Worcester police are investigating after a man riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a car.
The Telegram & Gazette (http://bit.ly/1ZDrkC2 ) reports that the bicyclist was heading west on Belmont Street, which is Route 9, at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a car traveling in the same direction.
The cyclist, a 54-year-old man from Shrewsbury, was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries.
The driver, a 29-year-old man, stopped at the scene and was interviewed by police.
No names were released.
The street was shut down for about an hour.
The death remains under investigation.
