Spring Valley girls defeat Spring Mills

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — Spring Valley defeated Spring Mills 54-28 in a girls basketball game at the Buckhannon - Upshur Mixer.

Bre Saunders scored 14 and Ella Edwards grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Timberwolves.

HUNTINGTON ST. JOE 74, NORTH GWINNETT 47: The Irish (7-1) raced to a 25-4 lead and rolled to an easy victory over the Bulldogs (4-8) in the Cleveland (Tennessee) Holiday Tournament.

Dena Jarrells led the Irish with 21 points. Bailee Adkins and Paige Shy scored 11 each and Dionna Gray added 10. Malia Fisher paced North Gwinnett with 23 points. Kaira Simpson scored 11.

DUBLIN JEROME 63, FAIRLAND 45: Dan Lee scored 14 and Trey Ballangee 12 as the Celtics (5-3) defeated the Dragons in Worthington, Ohio. Matthew Montgomery scored 10 for Jerome, which outscored Fairland 21-4 in the second quarter.

Clayton Thomas led Fairland (5-2) with 15 points. Jacob Polcyn scored 12.

LINCOLN CO. 78, DODDRIDGE CO. 49: Four Panthers scored in double figures to lead Lincoln County to the win at the Ritchie County Tournament. Hunter Hill was the top scorer with 16 points on the night for Lincoln County (5-1). Doddridge County (5-3) had 40 points from Collin Bunting.

IRONTON 62, CUYAHOGA FALLS 49: Charlie Large scores 15 points, Reid Carrico 14 and Ethan Wilson 10 as the Fighting Tigers (5-3) defeated the Black Tigers (0-7) on the road.

SOUTH POINT 59, LUCASVILLE VALLEY 44: Chance Gunther scored 23 points to help the Pointers beat the Indians in Lucasville, Ohio.

BOYD CO, FORT ZUMWAIT WEST 42: Savannah Wheeler scored 25 and Harley Paynter 20 as the Lions (11-1) overwhelmed the Jaguars in the Innisfree Pensacola (Florida) Beach Tournament.

SISSONVILLE 59, POINT PLEASANT 39: Laila Arthur sank 31 points and Sydney Farmer 12 as the host Indians (5-1) earned a win in their own Burdette Electric Tournament. For the Big Blacks, Denayla Ward scored 13 and Peyton Campbell 11.

SPRING VALLEY 82, PARKERSBURG SOUTH 72: The Timberwolves boys basketball team evened its season record at 2-2 with a win on the Patriots’ home court. Spring Valley was led by C.J. Meredith with 34 points and he was one of four Timberwolves with double-figure points.

Graeson Malashevich netted 23 points and was 13 for 15 on free throws, including making 10 of 11 in the fourth quarter. Chase Maynard added 13 points and Doug Nester scored 11.

Brayden Mooney scored 20 for Parkersburg South (1-4).

RACELAND 68, HOLY CROSS 54: Kirk Pence led the Rams with 16 points and Andrew Floyd scored 15 as the Rams (5-5) beat the visitor from Louisville (4-7) in the Stultz Pharmacy Holiday Classic at Greenup County. Keeton Thornsberry led Holy Cross with 16 points.

GREENUP CO. 75, ROSE HILL CHRISTIAN 47: Logan Robinson led the Musketeers (5-5) with 19 points and Eli Raby added 12 in a victory over the Royals (2-12) in the Stultz Pharmacy Holiday Classic. Trey Phelps led Rose Hill Christian with 24 points.

BUFFALO 82, WAHAMA 49: Nate Gibson’s 22 points led the Bison to a win over the White Falcons in the Wirt County Holiday Tournament. Alec Hanshaw had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Dalton Huddle tacked on 12 points and Jackson England added 11 for the Bison (4-2). Jacob Lloyd and Jacob Warth each tallied 10 points for the White Falcons (1-6).
