Police arrest suspect believed to have burglarized Silver Bluff Road apartment twice
The Aiken Department of Public Safety arrested an Aiken man Wednesday wanted in connection to the residential burglary of an apartment on Silver Bluff Road earlier this month.
Phillip Laron Boyd Jr., 24, is charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree burglary and receiving stolen goods, $2,000 or less, according to jail records.
He is also on a detainer hold for the South Carolina Department of Corrections, records show.
On Dec. 6, Aiken Public Safety officers responded to Steeplechase Apartments on Silver Bluff Road in reference to a burglary, according to a release.
Officers arrived and discovered multiple items had been taken from the apartment, police reported.
During the investigation, it was discovered Boyd, who resided at the apartment complex with his mother, entered into a neighboring apartment while the resident was away and took clothing from the apartment, police reported.
Investigators also determined Boyd had entered that same apartment a day prior on Dec. 5, stealing electronics, the release states.
Aiken Public Safety issued an announcement Tuesday asking for the public’s help in locating Boyd to bring him into custody.
Boyd was located by police Wednesday afternoon in Aiken. He was arrested and taken to the Aiken County detention center, where he was still being held Thursday afternoon.
