Shootout leads to drug raid, 4 arrested
Fort Wayne police are investigating a shootout that resulted in a raid on a residence where officers found weapons and drugs Thursday.
Officers began receiving calls of shots being fired in the area of 3812 Trace Way at 8:39 p.m., according to a news release. A short time later a female shooting victim showed up at a local hospital.
The Fort Wayne Police Department’s Gang and Violent Crimes Unit responded and found the home riddled with bullets. Police said bullet holes indicated incoming and outgoing gunfire.
Someone arrived at the residence and told officers he believed his niece was shot inside the home. Police stormed the residence and found four suspects hiding, they said.
Officers also found cocaine, marijuana and other drugs, several weapons including a .357 Magnum revolver, four 9 mm pistols and an assault rifle.
Briandre Howard, 24, was charged with cocaine possession, visiting a common nuisance and false informing. Leroy Trice, 20, was charged with possession of marijuana and a narcotic, and visiting a common nuisance.
Two other male suspects were charged with visiting a common nuisance. One also was charged with having a handgun without a license, the other person also was charged with false informing.
Police said the female shooting victim denied being at the shooting scene. Her condition was not available.
