Scranton Woman Sentenced To State Prison For Crash That Killed Daughter

SCRANTON — A city woman is headed to state prison for a 2017 crash that killed her 8-year-old daughter.

Linette Villa-Vale, 29, was sentenced today by Lackawanna County Judge Margaret Bisignani Moyle to 18 months, three days, to 7 1/2 years of imprisonment on involuntary manslaughter and other charges related to the death of her daughter, Andrea Nicole Morales.

The girl was killed June 25, 2017, when Villa-Vale lost control of her speeding Honda Civic on the McDade Expressway and hit a guardrail. The woman’s other daughter, then 6, suffered serious injuries.

Police say Villa-Vale did not have a valid license and was under the influence of cocaine and marijuana at the time of the crash.
