Ringling Bros. Sues “Greatest Show On Dirt″
ELLENSBURG, Wash. (AP) _ ″The Greatest Show On Earth,″ has filed a trademark-infringement lawsuit against a rodeo calling itself ″The Greatest Show On Dirt.″
Ringling Bros., Barnum & Bailey Combined Shows Inc. filed suit in federal court in Spokane, claiming the Ellensburg Rodeo Association’s slogan is too similar to the trademarked motto used to bill its circus.
Rodeo association president Rick Cole said Ringling Bros. wants to prevent the rodeo from using the slogan, and also seeks penalties, court costs and attorney fees.
Ringling Bros. is also currently challenging the state of Utah over its use of the slogan, ″The Greatest Snow On Earth,″ to advertise its skiing industry.
