Saint Louis 65, Sam Houston 48
ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Jamal Johnson scored 15 points and Saint Louis had a 15-0 run late in the first half as the Billikens beat Sam Houston State 65-48 Monday night.
Saint Louis trailed 25-21 with six minutes left in the first half before their spurt put them ahead 36-25. Freshman Virgel Cobbins had two 3-pointers and seven points in the flurry. He finished with 10.
The Billikens (6-2) led 36-27 at the intermission.
Mike Dillard scored 10 of the Bearkats’ (2-5) first 13 points and finished with 12. He was Sam Houston’s only scorer in double figures.
Corey Frazier added 10 points for Saint Louis, all of them in the second half.
The Bearkats trailed 48-38 midway through the second half before Frazier scored seven points in a 12-2 run. His 3-pointer with 6:39 left, capped the spurt and put Saint Louis on top 60-40.
Johnson had 12 of his points in the first half; he played just nine minutes in the second period.
