Congressman Gets Nod for Hart Seat
DENVER (AP) _ Colorado Republicans have nominated four-term Congressman Ken Kramer as their candidate for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Gary Hart.
Republicans attending the party’s state meeting Saturday selected Kramer over state Sen. Martha Ezzard and political newcomer Terry Considine.
Kramer will face Rep. Tim Wirth, who was nominated without opposition at the Democratic State Assembly.
Both Democrats and Republicans have made the race a top priority in their battle to control the U.S. Senate. Hart is expected to seek the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination.
