AMAS ARE TONIGHT

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ella Mai (MAY) says her two nominations for tonight’s American Music Awards are about celebrating for being recognized. She jokes she has no clue what she’ll say if she actually wins. Drake and Cardi B lead the nominations with eight each. Tracee Ellis Ross hosts. It will air live from Los Angeles on ABC.

OZZY OSBOURNE CALLS OFF TWO MORE SHOWS

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ozzy Osbourne needs more recovery time after he had surgery last weekend for an infection in his hand. Osbourne is calling off tonight’s show outside San Diego and Thursday’s show in Los Angeles. He had intended to be back to performing tonight.

BARBRA STREISAND GIVES THUMBS UP TO LADY GAGA

MALIBU, Calif. (AP) — Barbra Streisand says she’s quite pleased with the Lady Gaga version of “A Star Is Born.” She says it’s a story that always works, and Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper were the right casting. Streisand says it’s a timeless story and while it may be well known how the story ends, people still want to see how it gets there.

TENNESSEE SENATE CANDIDATE IS GRATEFUL FOR TAYLOR SWIFT’S SUPPORT

UNDATED (AP) — Democratic candidate Phil Bredesen (BRED’-uh-sen) in the Tennessee Senate race sends his thanks for Taylor Swift for her endorsement. Swift broke from her usual silence about politics to say she will vote for Bredesen over Republican Marsha Blackburn. Blackburn has not commented. Swift also says she will vote for Democrat Jim Cooper for the House. President Donald Trump says he likes Swift’s music “about 25 percent less now” after her endorsements. Swift says people may never find a candidate or party with whom they agree 100 percent on every issue, “but we have to vote anyway.” She points out today is the last day to register to vote in Tennessee.

A3C FESTIVAL SAYS LIL WAYNE CONCERT PANIC STARTED BY AN ALTERCATION

ATLANTA (AP) — Organizers of the A3C Festival in Atlanta confirm there was an altercation during Lil Wayne’s set on Sunday but no gunshots. They say they are still collecting information on what happened, and it’s “a very unfortunate way to end what had been an otherwise amazing week of music, friendship and connections.” Police say a person in the crowd yelled they heard gunshots and people began to flee. Police found no evidence of guns being fired. Lil Wayne tweets he hopes everyone is safe.

KETCH SECOR PUBLISHES CHILDREN’S BOOK

NEW YORK (AP) — Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show has put out a children’s book called “Lorraine.” It’s about a Tennessee farm girl named Lorraine who plays pennywhistle and her Pa Paw, who plays harmonica. A storm comes through and they can’t find their instruments, so they must find the music inside them. The book is intended for kids ages 4 to 8. Illustrator Higgins Bond drew the pictures. “Lorraine” is on sale now.

CHRIS CORNELL STATUE UNVEILED

SEATTLE (AP) — A life-size statue of Chris Cornell now stands outside the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle. Cornell’s wife, Vicky, and his children unveiled the bronze statue Sunday. Matt Cameron, Kim Thayil and Ben Shepherd of Soundgarden and Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam were present too. The statue shows Cornell with a guitar and his hand raised.

FAITH HILLS JOINS “THE WORLD’S BEST”

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Faith Hill will be one of the judges on a new talent competition for the entire planet. Hill will join Drew Barrymore and RuPaul as judges for “The World’s Best.” James Corden will host. Contestants from around the world and from all fields of entertainment not only have to impress the American judges, but a panel of 50 experts from different countries. The ten-episode series will premiere next year on CBS.
