Bonds Misses Giants’ Start

April 18, 1999

PHOENIX (AP) _ Barry Bonds was scratched from the San Francisco Giants’ starting lineup today because of a sore left elbow.

Bonds’ elbow has been tender for the last few games, both at the plate and in the field.

The left fielder, tied for the NL lead with 12 RBIs, was to be examined during the Giants’ game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Bonds, an eight-time All-Star with the Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates, is hitting .366 with four home runs. He was replaced in the lineup by Stan Javier.
