February 5, 2019

GREENWICH — In two weeks, the students of New Lebanon School will move into their new home.

The finishing touches will be completed before the new school building opens for students on Feb. 20, officials announced Monday evening.

Classrooms and common areas are receiving their final cleanings as the spaces are completed and furniture is delivered and installed. Over February break, which lasts from Feb. 11 to Feb. 15, the contents of classrooms will be packed up and moved over.

In the coming weeks, interior finishes will be completed and the last ceiling tiles will be installed. Work continues to put down corridor flooring, install gym equipment and flooring. Smartboards are going in, and training has begun for the staff on new equipments and systems.

On Feb. 23, the community will have the opportunity to see the finished building during an open house and tour from 10 a.m. to noon. Families can also learn about the International Baccalaureate magnet program that day from 1 to 3 p.m.

The project has received $3,495,815 from the state, its fourth reimbursement. That brings the total reimbursement $15,738,167 to date. The school is expected to have up to 64 percent of its $33 million price tag reimbursed by the state.
