WASHINGTON (AP) _ Ann Gallagher’s basket with 90 seconds remaining capped a 13-2 run as La Salle rallied for a 68-65 victory over American on Wednesday night.

La Salle (5-1) trailed 61-53 with 4:51 remaining when Marnie McBreen had a three-point play to start the rally.

After McBreen connected on one of two free throws and Chrissie Donahue made two foul shots, McBreen converted a second three-point play to pull the Explorers within 64-63 with 1:45 left to play.

Lori Sparling and McBreen each connected on two free throws in the final 42 seconds.

American (3-3) had two chances to pull even. Lena Patterson missed a 3-pointer with 11 seconds remaining and the Eagles were unable to get a shot off after regaining possession on a traveling call with three seconds left.

McBreen and Sparling led La Salle with 19 and 18 points.

Patterson paced American with 15 points, Becky Greenfield added 14 and Mary Klima 10.
