Cops: Man shot woman, daughter over worries they were spying
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Police say a man shot a woman and her 16-year-old daughter who were his neighbors in Pennsylvania because he believed they were spying on him.
Authorities responded to the scene in Harrison Township around 9 p.m. Monday and found the mother and daughter outside suffering from gunshot wounds.
A SWAT team was called to the scene after the alleged shooter barricaded himself inside a nearby housing complex. He was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound around 11:40 p.m.
The Tribune-Review reports the mother has been hospitalized in critical condition, and the 16-year-old girl remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Police say the alleged shooter had been suffering from an unspecified mental illness for several years. It is unclear how he got access to firearms.
