City Opens Bids For Novembrino Pool Complex Demolition Project
SCRANTON — City officials opened five bids today for the “demolition phase” of a project to rehabilitate the Novembrino pool complex in West Side.
Officials plan to ultimately convert the defunct pool facility, which has been closed since 2011, into a splash park, but that phase of the project won’t begin until after crews fill in two existing pools at the site and prepare the grounds for future improvements. Contractors that submitted bids for the preliminary work include:
n D&M Construction Unlimited Inc. of Clarks Summit, $63,302.
n Scartelli Construction Services and General Contractors Inc. of Scranton, $87,800.
n Shea Industries Inc. of Clarks Summit, $92,800.
n Multiscape Inc. of Pittston, $185,336.
n Machiesky Construction LLC of Mayfield, $247,000.
The bids will be reviewed by the city controller’s office and law department before being sent to city council for final approval, Scranton Controller Roseann Novembrino said. The Novembrino pool complex is named for Richard Novembrino Sr., the controller’s late husband.
