CMH hosts third annual Walk a Mile in my Shoes rally
In conjunction with Mental Health Awareness Month, West Michigan Community Mental Health (CMH) hosted its third annual Walk a Mile In My Shoes march on Wednesday to promote behavioral health and developmental disability awareness.
Approximately 100 people walked the 1 mile from the CMH building at 920 Diana St. to the Mason County Courthouse in solidarity to people who have struggled with mental health and addiction. Those affected by mental health issues also took part in the walk.
Many wore green T-shirts with the phrase, “Walk a mile in my shoes” printed on them.
“Green is the color for Mental Health Awareness Month,” said CMH Director Lisa Williams.
