Daily Journal collects 10 state advertising awards
The staff of the Daily Journal won four first-place honors and was recognized 10 times overall in the Illinois Press Association Advertising Awards announced earlier this month at the annual IPA Convention in Springfield.
The four first-place awards include: Best Marketing Campaign; Best Apparel, Jewelry & Accessories Ad; Best Garden, Yard & Farm Ad; and Best Classified Ad.
The top marketing award was earned by Dawn Breeden, senior graphic designer and art director, and Rebecca Meyer, circulation director, for work which publicized the newspaper’s new and improved eEdition.
The apparel, jewelry and accessories honor was given for an advertisement which touted the newspaper’s coverage of last spring’s wedding of Prince Henry and Meghan Markle. It was produced by Breeden and Liz Madsen, recruitment advertising account manager
The garden, yard and farm ad promoted Country Fruit Market of Kankakee. It was produced by Breeden and Gina-Harpin-Holmes, senior media consultant.
The classified ad promoted Belsen Steel. It was produced by Breeden and Madsen.
Second-place honors were given for Best Classified Ad (a recruitment call for bus drivers produced by Breeden and Madsen); Best Shared Page/Signature Page (a page honoring Bishop McNamara and Herscher High School athletic success produced by Breeden and staff); Best Holiday Ad (a piece promoting holiday discount deals produced by Breeden and staff); and the Royal Wedding Campaign which promoted the coverage of the union.
Third-place honors were given for Best Ad Series (pieces promoting Cinderella Shoes sales produced by Breeden and Harpin-Holmes); and the I Am the Daily Journal campaign (pieces highlighting newsroom staff members which were produced by Breeden and staff and managed by the circulation department).
