Three starters suspended for Nebraska game

October 22, 1997

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) _ Three Kansas starters, including sack leader Ron Warner, were suspended for Saturday’s game against No. 1 Nebraska, coach Terry Allen said Tuesday.

Warner was suspended along with linebacker J.J. Johnson and cornerback Jamie Harris for ``a violation of the code of conduct that we have established for every player on this team,″ Allen said.

Warner has started all seven games for the Jayhawks (4-3) and has 10.5 sacks. Allen said he would be replaced by redshirt freshman Victor Bullock.

Johnson, a junior, has started the last two games at inside linebacker. He could be replaced by either Jason Thoren or Steve Bratten.

Harris, a junior, has started all seven games and will be replaced by Manolito Jones.
