Battle of the Bands event will benefit local VFW post

Savannah River VFW Post 5877 will be sponsor Battle in The Alley: Battle of the Bands on Friday evening.

The event will last from 6 to 9 p.m. in The Alley and is free to the public.

Six local bands will be featured in the event and will rotate on two stages.

Although admission is free, donations will be taken during the event with proceeds going directly to support Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Aiken Mayor Rick Osbon, Director of Aiken County Veterans Affairs Dwight Bradum and Michael Eubanks will be judges during the event. Plaques will be awarded to the top three voted bands.

Local businesses from The Alley will be participating in the event. Commander of VFW Post 5877 Lowell Koppert said Mellow Mushroom will donate $1 for each large pizza purchased during the event, Whiskey Alley will offer a drink special and the Tap Room is donating its tips to the cause.
