Peoria latest city to get taxi cab app
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) — Peoria is one of the latest cities to allow residents to hail a taxi with their smartphones.
The smartphone app NexTaxi has debuted. John Franks is owner of Peoria Yellow Check Cab. He tells the Journal Star (http://bit.ly/14vFUxA) that the app lets riders order, track and pay for their ride with their phones. He says fewer than 100 people use the service right now, but he expects that number to grow.
Franks says his drivers have computer tablets in their cabs. That allows them to receive messages.
Franks says his company is hoping younger customers will find the service attractive.
