Mets’ Legend Mookie Wilson At W-B Friendly Sons Dinner

The Greater Wilkes-Barre Friendly Sons of St. Patrick announced the guest speaker at this year’s annual dinner will be Mookie Wilson of the 1986 World Champion New York Mets. The annual dinner will be held Friday, March 15, at the Best Western Plus Genetti Hotel and Conference Center in Wilkes-Barre. Cocktail hour is at 5 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6:30. Cost is $70 per person. Tickets may be purchased from any member of the society or by contacting ticket chairman Jim Kelly at 570-472-4036. William Hayward Wilson better known as “Mookie” Wilson, the switch-hitter for the New York Metropolitan Baseball Club, made his debut with the Mets on Sept. 2, 1980. Mookie Wilson was inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame. In 2005, he was the manager of the Brooklyn Cyclones, a New York Mets farm team.
