March 26, 2019

A Lake Havasu City man’s Saturday afternoon ATV ride didn’t go as smoothly as he probably had planned.

According to information from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Nicholas Johnson III, 49, of Lake Havasu City, for allegedly possessing methamphetamine.

According to authorities, at about 3:25 p.m. Saturday, deputies saw a man, later identified as Johnson III, driving a red ATV travelling southbound on London Bridge Road.

Deputies noted the ATV did not have a visible license plate and pulled him over in the 900 block of Port Drive. While approaching the vehicle, deputies said they saw Johnson III grab an unknown item and place it near the front of the ATV.

When deputies spoke with Johnson, they saw a cigarette box in the same area. An inspection of the cigarette box revealed approximately 3.2 grams of methamphetamine.

Johnson III was arrested and booked into Mohave County Adult Detention Facility without incident.
