Man Charged After Tape of Child Abuse Found
FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) _ A former maintenance man in this Washington suburb is being held in a Texas jail on a morals charge after police said a videotape showing him sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl was found in his abandoned car.
William Boyd McIntyre, 29, was arrested in New Boston, Texas, on Tuesday and charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact, a felony, police said. He was lodged in a Texarkana, Texas, jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Police said McIntyre’s car, found abandoned in Interstate 95, was about to be demolished last month at a wrecking yard when a workman found the tape.
He took it home, played it and then turned it over to police after seeing scenes of a man molesting a young girl.
New Boston Police Chief Kerry Pinkham told The Washington Post that Fairfax police traced McIntyre to the Texas community, where the young girl and McIntyre both resided. Authorities said the tape was made in December 1987 and that the girl, now 9, apparently has no memory of the incident.
