—TEEN KILLED-SEX TRAFFICKING: Federal prosecutors are seeking a 40-year prison sentence for man found guilty of sex-trafficking a Chicago teenager who was murdered.

—JUSSIE SMOLLETT: A former judge who wants a special prosecutor appointed in the Jussie Smollett case is back in court with new motions to obtain her goal.

—FLAMINGO EUTHANIZED: Officials at a zoo in Illinois had to euthanize a flamingo after it was struck by a rock thrown by a child.

—LIGHTFOOT-CABINET APPOINTMENTS: Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot says she is retaining several appointees of the previous mayor in key posts, including the city’s police superintendent.

—WILD TURKEY HARVEST: Illinois hunters harvested more than 15,000 wild turkeys during the spring season, up from nearly 13,500 last year.



CHICAGO _ Cole Hamels makes his first start against his former team when the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies continue their four-game series Wednesday.
