SYDNEY, Australia (AP) _ Dave Grohl, lead singer of the American rock band the Foo Fighters, lost his driving privileges in Australia for three months for riding a moped while drunk.

Grohl, 31, was stopped by a police random breath test unit after performing in a music festival Jan. 23. His alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit.

Grohl, who was the drummer of grunge band Nirvana before the lead singer of that band, Kurt Cobain, committed suicide, was sentenced Monday. He was also fined $400.

His lawyer told the court Grohl had had four cans of Budweiser and was surprised he had exceeded the limit.

After the court appearance, Grohl signed autographs and posed for photos with fans.
