Mojo Music holding concert event for Dells food pantry
A day of music and fun should help put food in the mouths of local families in need.
Music for Meals will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Mojo Music, 650 S. Frontage Road, Wisconsin Dells.. The event is a fundraiser for the Central Wisconsin Community Action Wisconsin Dells Food Pantry, thus the entrance fee: a non-perishable food donation. There is no set amount a person must bring, but the more people bring, the more it helps.
The Lions Club will sell beer, burgers and brats. The band list features Alley Katz, Pink Cadillac, The Laureattes, and Island Jack.
The event is looking for more sponsors, with $250, $500 and $1,000 tiers available. A $1,000 pledge can feed 80 to 100 households for 1 month. The Dells food pantry provided meals for an average of 230 households per month in 2017.
Anna Hutchison, who runs Log Gables and is co-chair of the event with Bonnie Hufford, pledged to match each sponsorship of $1,000 or more.
The event will have lawn seating, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
It’s a time for people to enjoy themselves, and take a little worry away from their neighbors.
“The vast majority of our customers are nice, caring people,” said Holly Webber, food pantry employee. “If they don’t need something, they leave it for someone else.”
She said employees work hard to ensure the food pantry is an enjoyable place to come to without any judgment.
All the organizers hope it will become an annual tradition to help bring assistance to the food pantry every year.
“Come out and helps us build a mountain of food,” said Bob Hufford, Mojo Music owner.
Those who want to donate can bring funds to Mojo Music or the CWCAC Wisconsin Dells Food Pantry. Checks can be made out to CWCAC-Wisconsin Dells Food Pantry.
